American Equity

Self-funded Pension Plans

If you live within the United States, including Washington, D.C., you can purchase a contract with American Equity Investment Life. They offer fixed rate and fixed index self-funded pension plans for their customers, so you can have a steady stream of income during your retirement.

Offered self-funded pension plans

American Equity offers three types of self-funded pension plans – traditional fixed, fixed indexed, and lifetime income.

  • Traditional fixed
This plan’s specifics include tax-deferred growth and immediate access to your income so you can make withdrawals for the IRS and their minimum distributions rule. You can also make penalty-free withdrawals for yourself, with some limitations.
  • Fixed indexed
With this plan, you get tax-deferred growth, and choice over the index and how your interest is calculated. You also get 10% penalty-free withdrawals after the first year.
  • Lifetime income
Pay one premium price, and then get no change in payments for the rest of your life, or for however long you want. That income doesn’t change, and you get access to different income options and payout modes.
